Margaret "Meg" Sheetz is the Chief Executive Officer of Take Shape For Life, Inc. and the President and Chief Operating Officer of Medifast, Inc. Prior to joining the Company in 2000, she was a legal assistant with the firm of Carrington, Coleman, Sloman and Blumenthal in Dallas, Texas. As Medifast continues to see strong year-over-year growth, Ms. Sheetz has provided the operational and technical leadership that has resulted in Medifast providing the proper infrastructure to support the growth of the Company. Her accomplishments include making dramatic productivity improvement in the Company's operational capabilities, as well as building a strong infrastructure of distribution, manufacturing, information systems, and human resource operations necessary to support rapid business growth.
Ms. Sheetz supports the efforts of the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, and the Toys for Tots Foundation. She sits on the Villanova University President's Leadership Circle. The Circle is instrumental in raising the university's national profile, increasing alumni and parents' pride and involvement in the university, and helping Villanova reach its highest potential as a top-tier national university. Ms. Sheetz is also very active with several organizations of Maryland executives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University and received an Executive MBA from Loyola University.
Ms. Sheetz was first selected as a Management Director in 2008 after she had assumed the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer of Medifast, Inc. She is the senior experienced operations executive who has built the operational structure of the company. In addition to her strong operational expertise, she has strength in IT integration with operations and human resources management. Her Executive MBA has assisted her in the training development of her subordinates. Since 2000, she has been a focused executive instrumental in building the manufacturing and distribution infrastructure with her team of professionals. Her leadership and oversight skills are greatly admired, and she is recognized in the company as a detail-orientated executive who builds high-performance teams. The Board considers her the source person to get information pertinent to the oversight of Medifast's operations.
Major General Williams received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1970 and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern Illinois University in 1978. As a General Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, General Williams served as Commanding General, 4th Force Service Support Group, Marine Forces Reserve; Commanding General, Marine Corps Reserve Support Command; Vice Director, Joint Experimentation (J9), U.S. Joint Forces Command; and Deputy Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command. He retired from the Marine Corps on January 1, 2004 after over 33 years of service.
General Williams currently serves as a member of the boards of PANAFSAT and Intelligent Illuminations, Inc. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of both the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation and the Navy Mutual Aid Association. He recently served as a Trustee for the University of the District of Columbia. The Secretary of Defense appointed him to serve as a member of the Military Leadership Diversity Commission (MLDC) from September 2009 through December 2010. General Williams was also the Brand Manager for the Ford Explorer, Expedition, Excursion, Escape, and F150 pickup truck for Ford Motor Company.
Colonel Bradley T. MacDonald (ret.) is the Executive Chairman of the Board of Medifast, Inc. Mr. MacDonald has been Chairman of the Board of Medifast, Inc. since January 1998 and was also Chief Executive Officer until March 2007. He was the principal architect of the turnaround of Medifast and formulated the "direct to consumer" business models that are the primary drivers of revenue to this day. He is also the Co-founder of Take Shape For Life and acquired the clinic operations in 2002. Mr. MacDonald received the prestigious and audited Ernst and Young award of "Entrepreneur of the Year" for the state of Maryland in the consumer products category, and helped lead the Company to national recognition in Forbes magazine, which ranked Medifast the #1 Small Company in America in 2010.
From 1991 through 1994, Mr. MacDonald returned to active duty as Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Retail, Food, Hospitality and Recreation Businesses for the United States Marine Corps. Prior thereto, Mr. MacDonald served as Chief Operating Officer of the Bonneau Sunglass Company, President of Pennsylvania Optical Co., and Chairman and CEO of MacDonald and Associates, which had major financial interests in retail drug, consumer candy, and pilot sunglass companies. Mr. MacDonald was National President of the Marine Corps Reserve Officers Association and retired from the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a Colonel in 1997 after 28 years of service. He was appointed and served on the Defense Advisory Board for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR.) for three years.
Currently, Mr. MacDonald serves on the Board of Trustees of Stevenson University in Maryland, and is the President of the Catholic Community Foundation of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation.
Dr. Wayne Andersen is the Medical Director and Co-founder of Take Shape For Life, an innovative new model of business combining the power of Medifast's leading-edge meal replacements with a comprehensive, complete weight-loss and weight-maintenance program taught by Take Shape For Life Health Coaches to Clients. With the fall 2008 release of Dr. A's Habits of Health, our Health Coaches were provided with a groundbreaking new approach to helping their Clients create Optimal Health. The book, along with its companion guide, Living a Longer Healthier Life, is helping afford a simple and straightforward approach to health, positioning Dr. Andersen as an innovative leader in nutritional and lifestyle management. Dr. Andersen has been recognized as a top physician in critical care and nutritional intervention by the Consumers' Research Council of America for his active commitment and drive in developing and maintaining weight loss and disease control in the United States.
Dr. Andersen is currently a reviewer for Critical Care Medicine magazine in the area of nutrition. Prior to joining Medifast, he served from 1984 through 2001 as Director of Surgical Intensive Care and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, a top 100 hospital in America. Prior thereto, Dr. Andersen trained in open-heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic, followed by two years at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical care medicine at the University of Miami, culminating in his becoming the tenth physician Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine. He interned at Grandview Medical Center, where he was awarded the prestigious Intern of the Year award, after earning his medical degree and graduating valedictorian from the University for Health Sciences in Kansas City.
Dr. Andersen is currently leading Take Shape For Life, a national network of Health Coaches and Health Professionals whose mission is to move the nation from its existing disease state to a new orientation of health through weight loss. His wife Lori coordinates nursing support for Take Shape For Life, and they , along with their two daughters, live in Annapolis, Maryland.
Michael S. McDevitt is the Chief Executive of Medifast, Inc. Prior to joining the company in June 2002, he was a Senior Analyst for the Blackstone Group, a private equity group in New York City.
Medifast has continued to excel under Mr. McDevitt's leadership, demonstrated by the company's recent report of its 43rd consecutive quarter of profitability for the second quarter, 2010. Medifast continues to see strong year-over-year growth, most recently experiencing 67% top line growth and over 90% profitability growth, versus the same time period last year.
Since Mr. McDevitt has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer, the Company has successfully moved listing of the its public stock to the New York Stock Exchange and enjoyed having Medifast named number 29 on Forbes' list of America's 100 Fastest-Growing Companies for 2010, and the #1 small company in America by Forbes Magazine 2010.
Mr. McDevitt volunteers as a big brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland, fully supporting the organization's mission of helping boys and girls grow up to be confident, caring young adults. He is on the board of directors for the American Heart Association's Baltimore region. Additionally, Mr. McDevitt supports the efforts of the American Diabetes Association and the Toys For Tots Foundation. He is on the board of directors of the Augustinian Press and works with several organizations of fellow CEOs.
Mr. McDevitt holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from James Madison University.
